RAID: Shadow Legends feel pretty overwhelming for new players
In RAID: Shadow Legends there are countless champions, multiple currencies, dungeons, events, gear sets, factions, Arena, Clan Boss – and it often feels like the game only properly explains half of it.
That’s exactly why many beginners make the same mistake early on: they try to do everything at once. In reality, progression in RAID becomes much smoother once you focus on the things that actually matter during the early game.
And if you’re just getting started, it’s also worth checking out the current RAID quests on Lootday before beginning your grind. Many of the early milestones overlap naturally with goals you’ll already want to complete as a new player anyway.
Focus on your starter champion first
One of the biggest beginner mistakes in RAID is spreading resources across too many champions too early.
Instead, you should focus almost entirely on your starter champion during the early game – ideally Kael, who is still considered the strongest all-round starter for new accounts in 2026.
Level your starter consistently, invest your first meaningful resources into them, and try to make them your first 6-star champion as early as possible.
It may sound repetitive at first, but it makes your overall progression far more efficient.
Push through the campaign as quickly as possible
The campaign is your single most important progression area.
It provides:
- XP
- silver
- early champions
- efficient farming
- account levels
That’s why many experienced players focus heavily on unlocking Brutal campaign difficulty as early as possible.
In particular, Brutal 12-3 is still considered one of the most important farming stages for early- and mid-game players because it allows you to farm both XP and silver very efficiently at the same time. If you want faster long-term progression, reaching this point should be one of your first major goals.
Save your resources – especially Gems and Skill Books
RAID throws an enormous amount of resources at new players.
Because of that, many beginners waste their early Gems, Skill Books, or valuable materials on the wrong things.
Some classic mistakes include:
- spending Gems on single Ancient Shards
- using Skill Books on weak champions
- trying to level too many champions at once
Patience is extremely important in general. Many resources become much more valuable later than they initially seem.
Especially early on, Gems are usually better spent on account progression upgrades like the Gem Mine or important Mastery progress.
Start working on Clan Boss early
Many new players completely underestimate Clan Boss at first, but long term it becomes one of the most important daily activities in the entire game.
The reason is simple: Clan Boss offers some of the best consistent rewards in RAID, including Shards, Skill Books, Gems, and valuable resources
Even if your damage is low in the beginning, it’s still worth starting early and slowly building your first teams.
This is also one of the reasons why Kael remains so popular, since his Poison debuffs are especially strong against Clan Boss.
Don’t obsess over perfect gear too early
Another very common beginner mistake: new players spend far too much energy farming dungeons for “perfect gear” early on.
What matters far more is:
- having the correct main stats
- enough speed
- enough accuracy for debuffs
- functional overall builds
Perfect endgame gear simply doesn’t matter yet. Your focus should instead be on building stable teams and maintaining consistent progression.
Why this also matters for Lootday
Many of the most important early-game goals in RAID overlap directly with the current Lootday offers.
Things like:
- reaching account levels
- upgrading champions
- completing progression milestones
are already part of a normal RAID playthrough anyway.
That’s why it makes sense for new players to activate Lootday quests before starting a fresh account.
Especially since the current desktop and Android offers feature different quest structures and reward systems, it’s definitely worth checking which version fits your playstyle better.
RAID: Shadow Legends can feel complicated at first, but the game becomes much easier once you focus on the right priorities.
Players who commit to a few clear early-game goals usually progress much faster than those trying to do everything simultaneously.
That’s why your early focus should mainly be on:
- building your starter champion
- clearing campaign efficiently
- avoiding wasted resources
- starting Clan Boss early
- and prioritizing stable progression over perfect endgame gear
Once you build those foundations properly, the rest of RAID becomes much easier to navigate.
